Nissan GTR 2012 Black Edition

1. What originally sparked your interest in the Nissan/GTR Brand?

The first time I saw a GTR was in 2001 in the first The Fast & The Furious movie. I remember saying what kind of car is that (The yellow R33) and thinking it was awesome. I started looking up videos on YouTube and saw Keiichi Tsuchiya driving the Supra vs R34 Mines Skyline GTR. I was instantly hooked and wanted one but then heard how difficult it was to import. When 2009 came around and we were getting the R35 I couldn’t be more excited, but then reality set in and I saw the price tag. I set a goal that in the year 2020 I would get a used GTR. After years of hard work and saving my up my pennies, in early 2021 I was able to achieve my goal of getting my dream car and I picked up my 2012 Nissan GTR Black Edition!

2.  Why did you choose your model/year GTR?

I remember in the year 2012 I sat in a black edition Nissan GTR at a Nissan dealer. It was white with the black wheels and I was in love, so I made that my goal. I was able to find mine with relatively low miles and it was to the exact spec I would have ordered it brand new. It took about 8 months of searching to find the right one, but when you know you know.

3. What modifications have you done?

Not much as I love the GTR in stock form, it’s an amazingly capable car. I have a cat back HKS exhaust to give it more sound and Advan GT wheels 20x12 and 20x10. Now if you know the black edition, it comes with these amazing lightweight Rays Engineering wheels but California pot holes cracked them and I used that as an excuse to upgrade to something more aggressive.

4. What’s your favorite mod thus far?

Definitely the exhaust because in stock form, the GTR sort of sounds like a washing machine lol. With the HKS it sounds how you would expect from the factory, a nice sporty aggressive note.

5. If someone were buying a bone stock version of your car, what would you recommend they do first and why?

Besides a full service, which I think is standard when you pickup a used car, I would say the exhaust because it makes the car that much more exciting to drive!

6. If you could go back in time, what would you do differently? If anything?

No ragrats brah, haha. I wouldn’t change a thing, just honored to have one.

7. If money were no object, what would you do to your car?

I would probably go wide body and get the HKS Complete Engine VR38 4.3 Liter haha. For now I’ll keep it stock :-)

8. Where do you buy most of your mods?

Vividracing. Good customer service, fast shipping and good prices.

9. What is your favorite event to attend?

Pretty much any Cars and Coffee. They are classier events typically where burnouts, donuts and side shows aren’t happening. Just car guys sharing their rides and passion with a little caffeine.

10. Favorite cruise location?

Highway 1 along the coast, curves and good views.

11. What’s next for your ride?

I need new shifter paddles as mine are showing their age and probably a re-cleared rear diffuser.
